Web 2.0? I heard that this new era in the world wide web is about user generated content. I am writing this content here and I am a user! So is this a Web 2.0 site?

No, No, No! A Web 2.0 site needs always some comments from good friends. We are your friends. And now we take part in this discussion. So now this is a Web 2.0 site, isn't it?

A good point dear friends! But truly a simple page with text can't be a web 2.0 page. So quickly I added a cool Logo. Certainly I used a webservice for this. See the result! Now we are web 2.0.

Badge with text 'web 2.0?' on it

OK! Truly we are coming closer now. But for sure we need a badge to sign the site 2.0. So see that one which of course is also made with a webservice.

Thanx for the badge friends! And as I recognized now: The background must be striped. For this I used this webservice. And the discussion has to be presented with bubbles. For this I used this template. Now the site realy is looking like web 2.0.

Is web 2.0 only about looking like web 2.0? Certanily if we compare what we did some years ago against the so called web 2.0 sites of today it seams that one of the biggest differences is the look and feel. But is this realy all?

Right you are. Looking around I also see some new functionality! First hand it seems to be somthing what is called social bookmarking. So quickly I added some social Bookmarks by using the Social Bookmarking Script from the website http://www.social-bookmark-script.de.

Now we are a web 2.0 site, aren't we?

Now we do have user generated content, a web 2.0 design and a web 2.0 functionality. But still we aren't satisfied! Mainly because we realize that you are building this website with a simple and old fashioned texteditor and some helpful designservices. That is like building a modern spaceship airplane with nothing more then an ancient hammer. You should have used something like myspace or you should have set up a blog.

Okay friends! But you do have to admint that it was a nice try of an old web guy to jump ahead in the web 2.0 age without to abandon all what I was used to.
